Messmer High School has taken a huge step forward with the girl's soccer program this year. From the earliest meetings in the winter and early spring to now, the girls have been on a mission: to build, together, the first ever girls soccer team at Messmer. And it has been beautiful to watch!
On Tuesday, May 17, 2011, Messmer Girl's Soccer earned its first win ever beating Kenosha Christian Life 2-0 after receiving two goals from Arionna Suttle and a defensive shutout from goalies Helen Ferch and Brittany Harmon! Head Coach and Messmer Teacher Mr. Mike Hennicke said, "I have never seen more of a team win in my life. Each of our players stepped up and played their best game of the year, together. That was difference."
This team has successfully laid the foundation for future Lady Bishops to enjoy the thrill of competition on the soccer field and learn what it takes to be true winners. Sacrifice, commitment, hard work, and respect for each other could describe this wonderful group of young women. Coaches Mr. Mike Hennicke, Mr. Charles Uihlein and Mr. Adrian Herrera are extremely proud of the progress the team has made in just a short time and are excited to see just how far the new girl's soccer program can go.
